Sneakersnstuff – Welcome to the family!

International expansion at Sneakersnstuff powered by Sitoo.

One of the world’s retail’s biggest trendsetters and hottest properties, Sneakersnstuff, are set to enter the Asian market – and have chosen Sitoo’s mPOS system to help do it.

With its first store and ecommerce site opening in 1999, Sneakersnstuff have always been a ground-breaking brand. The business was started by two friends, Erik Fagerlind and Peter Jansson, who were brought together by a mutual love of sneakers. The pair, however, wanted more choice than what was on offer in Sweden so they travelled to New York and returned with a suitcase full of sneakers which they sold to their friends and relatives – and so Sneakersnstuff began.

Sneakersnstuff now has stores in Stockholm, London, Paris, Berlin, New York, LA, and will be opening their newest store in Tokyo this month. They have become renowned for their limited edition sneakers and collaborations with some of the biggest brands on the planet including Nike, Adidas and Converse.

IT Manager at Sneakersnstuff, Erik Arnewing, says expanding into the Asian market was a natural progression for the company. “It’s been two years since we opened our first US store and Asia was the next natural step,” he says. “We have a large customer base already from cities like Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore and Hong Kong and our aim has always been to open in influential world cities and Tokyo really stood out.”

“It’s a new culture for us to learn and how retail works in Japan is different to what we’re used to in many ways. We adapt all the time and it’s important that our partners are able to do this with us.”

We work very closely with Sitoo and this relationship with one of our key technology providers gives us a great feeling of security.

For Sneakersnstuff, it was crucial to find a POS system which could be used across their growing network of international stores. With Sitoo being Stockholm based, alongside having a wealth of international experience, it has been a perfect fit.

Erik Arnewing continues: “We were at a crossroads with our POS. Our previous POS was very complex and old so we asked ourselves the question, should we continue or freshen up?

“We wanted a system that was going to be intuitive and easy for our staff to learn – they should be able to learn it in 20 minutes not forced to read a 50 page manual.”

In the long term, it also had to be a system we could use globally in all our stores, be able to cover all payment methods, be able to be configured to local markets, and be multilingual.

“Sitoo ticked all the boxes. As well as this there was a great flow of communication with the Sitoo team. We looked at other similar POS systems but they were focused very locally on their markets. Sitoo stood out because they operate in many markets, in many countries, all over the world – it’s a big plus.”
